Illumicrate Unboxing: November

Illumicrate Unboxing: November
I subscribe to Illumicrate, a bookish subscription box based in the UK, created by the amazing Daphne from Winged Reviews. As it’s a quarterly subscription, November = Illumicrate #5! I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who has not yet received their box, so click ‘continue reading’ to see what’s inside (and see my previous unboxing posts here).

Illumicrate Unboxing: November
We were given Ryan Graudin’s Wolf by Wolf in the first ever Illumicrate and this month Daphne surprised those who have remained subscribed for a year with a copy of the highly anticipated sequel, Blood for Blood. As Wolf by Wolf was my favourite book of 2015, I can’t wait to get back to Ryan Graudin’s writing – the surprise extra book was very welcome and so thoughtful.

We also received S.J. Kincaid’s The Diabolic with a signed bookplate. It’s not one that has been on my radar much because I’ve strayed from science fiction a bit lately, but I loved her first novel, Insignia, and so I’m intrigued about this new series; it has received an excellent response on Goodreads!

I always love the bookish products that Daphne picks and this time we received an exclusive coffee cosy from Sparrow and Wolf – something that will keep my hot chocolate company over the coming months – and a fun notebook from House of Wonderland for jotting down all those Evil Plans. And we received a gorgeous bergamot and sandalwood candle from Meraki Candles, plus a pair of stripy Happy Socks, a Swedish company I’ve been wanting to try out for a while. I was probably more excited about socks than I should have been, but I love them so much that I’ve asked for a gift box for Christmas. It’s the little things that make you happy.

As always, Daphne included a bunch of fun exclusives from publishers. I particularly like the cute postcard from Maggie Harcourt’s upcoming Unconventional and the colourful poster from Lauren Oliver’s Replica.

  1. Hi there! I just loved this post! It must be so exciting!

I would love it if u check out my latest post, it’s called ‘5 Reasons Why I Read’ and it’s right here: https://teenmemoir.com/2016/11/27/5-reasons-why-i-read/

Since yours is a book blog I would really really love to hear some feedback and a few reasons from yourself…. :-)

    Thanks and bye,
    Namitha

  2. What a great box! I hope you enjoy Blood for Blood – it was one of my favourites (second favourite, to be exact) reads of the year. Brace yourself, though. It’s a real doosey. Graudin is a very talented author! (Also I love that cup jacket thing!)

  3. This box looks fantastic! I have been considering and browsing through some subs for after the holidays. I will be adding this to my list :)

  4. This was my second box and I loved it. These are so well put together and thoughtful. I also love the inclusion of a book, a lot of book boxes don’t actually include a book.

  5. Ha! I love the ‘evil plans’ notebook! and Happy Socks are just great – they really do do what they say on the tin (if you see what I mean!)

  6. The socks were definitely a favourite of mine in this box too! I liked them so much I’ve asked for some for my birthday (: I really need to read Wolf by Wolf, it sounds exactly like something I’d enjoy (:
