Illumicrate Unboxing: August

Illumicrate Unboxing: August
I subscribe to Illumicrate, a bookish subscription box based in the UK. As it’s a quarterly subscription, August means it is time for a new box! I can’t believe we’ve had a whole year of Illumicrate and we’re now onto the fourth box. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t received their box yet, so click ‘continue reading’ to see what’s inside (and see my previous unboxing posts here).

Illumicrate Unboxing: August
Daphne surprised everyone this month by including not one, but two books: Jay Kristoff’s Nevernight – a high fantasy novel about the art of assassination – and Laure Eve’s The Graces – about witches, magic and obsession. As always, Daphne included signed bookplates. I’ve read neither of these novels, so I’m looking forward to getting stuck in. Plus, we received lots of extras, such as tattoos, bookmarks and a hand-written letter from Laure!

One of my favourite things from this month’s Illumicrate are the two amazing ‘then and now’ Harry Potter coasters, illustrations of our trio by Taratjah Art. I mentioned to Daphne a few weeks ago how much I’d love to see coasters, so I’m glad to know she was already way ahead of me!

Aren’t they adorable? Also included was strawberry tea from Post Tea, inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and exclusively created for Illumicrate. I enjoy iced tea and it smells divine, so I’ll have to give it a shot. And Ashley Poston illustrated two colouring cards inspired by Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows and Grisha trilogies, which are pretty cool, even if you haven’t read the books yet!

I was lucky to get a sneak peek at the last item, a Gilmore Girls-inspired tote bag, a few weeks ago because Daphne knows how much I love the series. I’m Team Logan and so I love this design. If you haven’t seen the series, here’s the scene in which ‘in omnia paratus’ (‘ready for anything’) and umbrellas will make sense. The design is by Colorful Geekiness. And we also received lots of free extras from publishers: an Unboxed postcard, Red Rising series quote prints and a sampler of A Torch Against the Night.
