Illumicrate Unboxing: May

Illumicrate Unboxing: May
I unboxed previous Illumicrates – a bookish subscription box based in the UK – back in February and November. As it’s a quarterly subscription, May means it’s time for a new crate! I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t received their box yet, so click ‘continue reading’ to see what’s inside.

IllumiInterns (i.e. my book club) once again descended on Illumicastle to help Daphne pack over 300 boxes. We managed to get into a rhythm and it actually took less time even though we packed way more boxes this month. I’m glad to report I didn’t sustain any injuries this time – and this month’s box is my favourite so far!

This month’s box included the kinds of bookish treats I really love: stationery, bookmarks, mugs and pins! I adore the TBR Notepad from Goodnight Boutique, the Readers Gonna Read Pin from Literary Emporium, and the Bookworm Clip from My Bookish Mark. I’ve already pinned my pin onto my backpack and aside from cutting my hand on it that one time (ouch), it’s my favourite thing from the box.

I have bookshelves that allow me to display things other than books, and I’m a big fan of showing off pretty mugs, so I was thrilled to get a mug in this month’s box! It’s an unbreakable mug that says ‘what happens in book club stays in book club’ and it’s designed by The Art of Escapism.

All of the goodies in this month’s box are made exclusively for Illumicrate. I love making lists and so the To Be Read List notepad is perfect for me – I’ve already started using it. I also helped Daphne decide on the adorable Ex Libris stamp, made by Little Stamp Store. I got the cutest fox curled up on a stack of books, and other boxes received an awesome stag. I just need to buy some ink and then I’m ready to go!

Am I forgetting the book itself? Of course not! We received Emery Lord’s incredible When We Collided and a signed bookplate (she has a beautiful signature!). It’s my favourite book of the year so far and so I’m excited that more people will get to read it. I haven’t decided what to do with my second copy yet!

And lastly, Daphne always includes exclusive extras from publishers. This time, to everyone’s delight and surprise, we received a sampler of Laini Taylor’s upcoming Strange the Dreamer. We also received a The Square Root of Summer recipe for cinnamon muffins, a Mystery and Mayhem postcard, When We Collided postcards, and Jenny McLachlan badges. Hooray!

So we’ve had Wolf By Wolf, Truthwitch, and When We Collided. I wonder what’s next?

  3. Wow! so many pretty stuff *heart-eyes* I’m definitely joining next month..

  4. I love it, too bad it’s so expensive to subscribe to Norway 😦

    • Oh no! How much is it? I know Daphne tried to make it so international shipping wouldn’t be too bad.

      • it’s about £44 😦 too much for a student, but it’s amazing! So I think I have to wait a little before I have the money 🙂

  5. Enjoyed this. I’ve been trying out different book boxes just to compare them and see which I like best. Is Illumicrate the only book subscription box you’ve tried?
