Books On My TBR / Halloween

Books On My TBR / Halloween
It’s nearly Halloween! I’ve chosen four creepy books to read this October.

The eagle-eyed among you might remember Libba Bray’s The Diviners from last year’s Halloween Reads post. It means that I’ve now owned the book for three and a half years – it was definitely time to pick it up. I read 50 pages last year and was thoroughly enjoying it, but it was far too heavy to carry around with me, so I set it down and didn’t pick it up again. That won’t happen this time! I also read Jonathan Stroud’s The Screaming Staircase last year and I’m looking forward to delving back into the world of Lucy, Anthony and George in the sequel, The Whispering Skull.

I also picked two younger books to read this Halloween: Lauren Oliver’s The Shrunken Head, because I adored her two other scary middle grade novels, Liesl & Po and The Spindlers, and Chris Riddell’s Goth Girl and the Ghost of a Mouse, both beautifully illustrated.

Have you read any of these? What will you be reading this Halloween?

  1. Yes to Lockwood & Co. I read all three in September and loved them 🙂

  2. Love it! The cover for The Diviners is absolutely gorgeous!

  3. I haven’t read any of these! Curious to hear your thoughts. Spooky books on my TBR are Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and Dracula by Bram Stoker. I read The Turn of the Screw by Henry James earlier this year and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good ghost story. 🙂 It’s that time of year!
