Top Ten / Series I Need to Continue

It’s Top Ten Tuesday and today’s topic is Ten Finished Series I Have Yet to Finish. As I read more standalones, I thought I’d talk about ten series that I want to continue with!

Top Ten / Series I Need to Continue
His Dark Materials
by Philip Pullman
I read Northern Lights and The Subtle Knife as an actual teenager – imagine that! But I just never picked up the final book, The Amber Spyglass. I have a beautiful edition to read, when I finally get round to it.

Geek Girl by Holly Smale
I adore the super fun and hectic world of Harriet Manners and I’m looking forward to stepping back into her shoes in All That Glitters. I wrote about how much I adored the first and second books (and still need to review the third!).

Lockwood & Co. by Jonathan Stroud
I read Jonathan Stroud’s spooky middle grade adventure The Screaming Staircase last Halloween and really need to pick up The Whispering Skull this year, especially as the third book is out soon.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
I read the first book back in 2011, but for some reason still haven’t picked up the sequels! Thankfully, I already own both of them and the novella, Night and Cake & Puppets.

Bloodlines by Richelle Mead
I have the last two books in this series, Silver Shadows and The Ruby Circle, so I just need to get round to reading them! I’m looking forward to delving back into Sydney and Adrian’s world. I need to know how it ends!

Code Name Verity
by Elizabeth Wein
I read Code Name Verity last year and planned to post a join review about the companion novel, Rose Under Fire, but it just never happened. Code Name Verity is a fantastic WWII adventure about female friendship, if you haven’t already read it!

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
The 5th Wave is one of the most impressive young adult science fiction novels I have read so far, so I’m slightly disappointed that the sequel, The Infinite Sea, is much shorter! It’s time for a re-read of the first book, I think!

The Wolves Chronicles by Joan Aiken
I read The Wolves of Willoughby Chase earlier this year for the 2015 Classics Challenge and I’m looking forward to continuing with this children’s adventure series, full of beautiful descriptions, treacherous characters and thrilling mysteries to solve.

Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children by Random Riggs
The first book was wonderfully unique and inventive, with colourful characters, a mysterious story, and a splash of historical relevance, so I can’t wait to pick up the sequel, Hollow City.

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
I’m super excited about continuing with this series! I have Queen of Shadows to read, plus the prequel, The Assassin’s Blade.

Have you read any of these series? Which should I pick up first?

  1. I have Bloodlines on my list as well! I’ve only read the first one, but I really want to give the others a try too. As for Throne of Glass, I’d suggest reading The Assassin’s Blade before Queen of Shadows! In QoS, they talk a lot about things that happened before Throne of Glass and I think that without having read the novellas, you won’t enjoy it as much. Great list!

  2. Definitely finish His Dark Materials when you get the chance, it really is a great trilogy. I also have Daughter of Smoke and Bone on my list, but I hope to read it before the end of this year. I am currently reading Queen of Shadows and loving every moment of it! Great list!

  3. OH god love the geek girl! Can’t wait to read part three! ^_^

  4. Yes, read The Whispering Skull now. I just finished it yesterday and have to wait a week until The Hollow Boy comes out. 😦

  5. Good luck with finishing these series. I think we all have a few unfinished series in our closets….

Here’s my Top Ten Series I’ve YET to Finish!

  6. Yes, finish His Dark Materials! I enjoyed the series as a whole, it was very thought-provoking. Of the three books, I think my favorite was The Subtle Knife. I found the anti-religion messages of The Amber Spyglass to be quite heavy-handed but the writing was still excellent.

  7. I also love anything by Joan Aiken, including her short stories. What a wonderful writer.

  8. I just finished Queen of Shadows and I loved it so I’d definitely recommend reading it soon! I really need to read Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children – I think I may read it in October for Halloween.

  9. HI! I don’t have any of these on my list, but Geek Girl looks like something I’d want to read 🙂 I’m going to check it out. Thanks! My TTT

  10. You should definitely continue the Throne of Glass series-the books get even better! 🙂

  11. Queen of Shadows took me a while to get through, but I thoroughly enjoyed it!

  12. I need to read Hollow City! For some reason, no matter how much I enjoyed the first book, I haven’t picked this up yet.

  13. Cannot wait to read Queen of Shadows! Code Name Verity is a book that I have, but I just haven’t got around to reading it yet.
