Behold the Pretty Books!

Here are the books that I acquired over the past couple of weeks:

Behold the Pretty Books!

Persuasion by Jane Austen
Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World (Scott Pilgrim #2) by Bryan O’Malley
Scott Pilgrim & the Infinite Sadness (Scott Pilgrim #3) by Bryan O’Malley
Requiem by Lauren Oliver
Level 2 by Lenore Appelhans
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

At the library, I came across Scott Pilgrim and since I’m unsure if I’ll ever get to buy them, even though I enjoyed the first book, I thought it’d be a good idea to check them out. I also really enjoyed The Scorpio Races and so I borrowed The Raven Boys after hearing that it was equally as compelling.

I received Persuasion in a Christmas party goodie bag, which I may read for my 2013 Classics Challenge. I’ve only ever read Pride & Prejudice and half of Emma.

Much to my surprise and glee, I was sent Requiem to review, which I think you’ll agree is one of the most highly anticipated YA titles of 2013. And last, but not least, I’m taking part in the Level 2 blog tour in January 2013 and so I was sent the book to review. I’ve been following Lenore’s blog even since I came across her running Dystopian February in 2011 and so I was excited to see what she had come up with. I’m about halfway through at the moment and really enjoying it!

Behold the Pretty Books!

The Sea of Tranquillity by Katja Millay (e-galley)
Hysteria by Megan Miranda (e-galley)
The Vincent Brothers by Abbi Glines (ebook)

I picked The Sea of Tranquillity after seeing lots of really positive reviews from my Goodreads friends. I hope I enjoy this contemporary novel just as much as they did. Hysteria is a thrilling story about a teenager girl who murders her boyfriend, but cannot remember doing so. And if there’s one genre I want to see more of in YA, it’s mystery. Lastly, Hot Key Books have published The Vincent Brothers in ebook format before the paperback next year. It also contains ‘uncut’ content! I’ll have read both over the Christmas holiday, I think…

So, there’s quite a mixture in this book haul!

  1. Requiem is AMAZING! And yay for LEVEL 2 🙂

    • I cannot imagine how it’s going to go!

And yes 🙂 I was super excited that I was asked to participate in the blog tour! Thank you for mentioning me 🙂

  2. Yay Persuasion! I read it this year, and i adored it. It was my first Austen, too!

  3. I’m green with envy over Requiem and Level 2. Hope you love them both! I’m reading Sea of Tranquility now…everyone is going crazy over that book! Happy reading 🙂

  4. OMG, I have The Sea of Tranquality on my Kindle right now. I haven’t read it yet though; I’m in the middle of reading the unabridged version of Les Miserables (wish me luck finishing the book). However, like you, I have read good reviews on Amazon so I’m looking foward to reading it.

  5. Yay for The Raven Boys!!! Isn’t the cover so gorgeous? I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did :). Also Persuasion is a great read. It’s a really cute story and probably one of my favourites when it comes to Austen :).

    • It wasn’t a cover that stood out to me, but it is growing on me! I’m really looking froward to it. I keep hearing fantastic things about it all of a sudden.

  6. I can’t wait to here your thoughts on Level 2 😀 The synopsis and cover makes me want to have it this very moment!

  7. Your library stickers are so much more inconspicuous than mine! I think that it was smart to get the Scott Pilgrim’s from the library.
Beyond jealous that you have Requiem. I hope you like it!
