In My Mailbox [9]

In My Mailbox (IMM) is weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren. It’s a chance for people to tell others about the books they received that week.

IMM #9

These are all for review:

Tempest by Julie Cross
I don’t think I’ve ever read a YA time-travel book before, so this’ll be interesting: …strangers burst in on Jackson and his girlfriend, Holly, and during a struggle with Jackson, Holly is fatally shot. In his panic, Jackson jumps back two years to 2007, but this is not like his previous time jumps. Now he’s stuck in 2007 and can’t get back to the future.

Crossed by Ally Condie
I started re-reading Matched this weekend (because I have a terrible memory!) and I will  start reading Crossed very soon. I remember thinking that I hoped there would be more action as there was a lot of description, such as of the Society, in Matched.

Darkness Falls by Cate Tiernan
I read Immortal Beloved this year too and I’m VERY much looking forward to reading the sequel. I don’t think I’ll re-read Immortal Beloved but I will have to remind myself what happened.

Pure by Julianna Baggott
Pure is YA dystopia/post-apocalyptic so OF COURSE I’m happy to receive it for review! The proof cover’s completely white with the title and author in a faint, shiny white. It took me a while to realise why. /slow

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi (eGalley)
This is another dystopia/post-apocalyptic novel I’m dying to read! Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland—nicknamed The Death Shop—are slim. If the cannibals don’t get her, the violent, electrified energy storms eventually will.

So that’s it for me this week! What did you guys receive? Feel free to provide a link to your IMM in the comments.

  1. I’m jealous about Pure! I’ve heard great things about it :) And Under the Never Sky! Happy reading!

  2. You have some really great books this week, I badly need to get a copy of Crossed after payday.

I can’t wait to get stuck in my copy of Under The Never Sky.

  3. Great IMM. I really want to read Pure. Enjoy all your books :D

  4. I enjoyed Crossed, much more than Matched. I didn’t find Ally’s writing style very descriptive – when it came to places – she was detailed with the Society and what is was, I suppose that was part of the world building. However, in the second book, which takes us to places outside of the Society, she did a better job at describing. I’m curious to see what you think of Xander after reading Crossed.

    • I really enjoyed the world-building in Matched but I felt as if that was it; there was nothing else to the book. I’m curious out the setting outside of the Society, so it should be an interesting read :)

  5. Pure is BRILlIANT. I mean, seriously, it’s amazing. Really hope you enjoy it!!

  6. I wanted to read Matched when it first came out, although I never really got around to it. Although now that the sequal is out, it seems like the perfect time to pick it up.

  7. gosh, you are so lucky! amazing books this week!

  12. It looks like a lot of people are getting Under The Never Sky. Great books you got this week. Come visit me as well.

  13. I am also crossing my fingers for more action in Crossed, because Matched was a little too slow for my liking. Under the Never Sky has gone up on my to-read list today, it seems like “everyone” got it this week:)

  14. OH MY GOSH. I can’t wait to take all of these home with me and plop down and read them. Incredible haul! ENJOY(:

  15. And this layout is so pretty to me!

    • That means publishers are doing their job well! I’d definitely suggest giving Cate Tiernan a go. I think she offers something different to a genre that can be quite generic.
